Andrea and Kenney met in 2006 at preschool and have been friends ever since. Kennedy was born with a condition called Goldenhar Syndrome which affects facial features, the skeleton, and organs. She sees countless specialists and has had 24 surgeries at local hospitals in North Carolina. With this lifelong journey, she has seen the impact children's hospitals have had on herself, several kids she has met at various events, and every kid who walks through the doors.

Andrea was always a healthy and active person. Little did she know that after 6 years of supporting local hospitals through this tournament, she would need them as well. In June of 2019, at 17 years old, she was diagnosed with metastatic thyroid cancer.  With this new journey, the tournament has an even deeper purpose for both Andrea and Kennedy as they now have another reason to give back.
